How accurate is this calculator?+
The math is exact for the inputs you provide. Etsy transaction fee (6.5%), payment processing (3% + $0.25), Offsite Ads (12% or 15%), and listing fee ($0.20) are baked in. Electricity is computed from your laser wattage and run time. The output is the literal dollars left after all fees, materials, your time, and the shipping shortfall.
What is the shipping shortfall?+
It's the difference between what shipping costs you and what you charge the buyer. Most new sellers underprice shipping by $2–$7 per order, silently destroying their margin. The calculator surfaces this gap explicitly.
Why does Offsite Ads matter so much?+
If you make more than $10K/yr on Etsy, you're mandatorily enrolled in Offsite Ads at 12% (15% if under $10K/yr opt-in). That's 12–15% off the top of every sale that came from Etsy's ad network — and it stacks on top of regular fees. Most "$30 profit" estimates ignore this.
